Footwear

Any footwear with fastenings are great for holding the foot in place such as velcro, buckles, laces, straps and T bars. Things to look for in a good shoe are:

• breathable materials such as leather as it moulds to the shape of the feet
• the sole of the foot should be hard wearing but light, check the soles regularly for wear and tear
• the toe box should be large enough for the toes to move with a 1-2cm space at the end, with sufficient depth for the toes
• heel height should be a maximum 2.5cm as anything higher alters the way the foot functions, centre of gravity, increases back problems and a risk of falling.
