Nails

  • nails should be cut after bathing as they are soft at this time and easily cut
  • take this time to check your feet and nails for cuts
  • check the condition of nail for splitting, thickened areas and brittleness
  • hold the foot firm and separate the toe away from the adjacent toes
  • cut little by little
  • always straight across
  • file around the corners

NEVER cut down the side of the nail as this may cause more damage and pain.

If you are concerned about your feet or nails you should seek help, keep an eye on anything out of the ordinary, such as:

  • redness
  • swelling
  • puss
  • heat from the area
  • splitting of the nail
  • cuts that are not healing
